District X Networking Event

If you were in the Twin Cities on October 26, 2012, the place to be was not a killer costume party. Rather, the hottest ticket for P.A.D. law school members and alums alike was a networking mixer put on by the Butler Chapter, Monroe Chapter and Twin Cities Alumni Chapter of District X.

The event was the brain child of Butler Chapter Clerk, Andrew True. Andrew, a 3L and past mock trial participant, saw the potential for a multi-chapter networking event and reached out to the Twin Cities Alumni Chapter, and Monroe Chapter. Jenna Kuitenen (Butler), Matt Bakke (Monroe), Amee Pham (Monroe) and Jason Eyberg (TWAC) along with the District X Justice joined forces and met on occasion for the planning and execution of this event.

With the NHL strike ongoing, many businesses in historic Downtown St. Paul, MN have been suffering greatly due to lack of pre- and post-hockey game business. To help support local business, the networking event was held at Patrick McGovern's, located on West 7th Street. McGovern's provided a private room and delicious appetizers for networking members.

About 50 students and alumni members were present, making it one of the largest turnouts for such an event in the district's history. Also a landmark for the district in that Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Lori Skjerven Gildea attended the event and gave some remarks about judicial elections and the importance of networking for careers. She answered questions from students and alumni alike.

Justice Gildea also graciously accepted some P.A.D. swag from the law school chapters. She is all set for the next purple & gold party, or Vikings game.

Unfortunately the lighting in McGovern's is not ideal, so event photos are unavailable for publication. The new District X Justice has very big shoes to fill when it comes to photography accoutrement (as anyone who knows the last past DX B.J. Maley).
Oh look, there he is now, taking pictures of me writing this post... (Just kidding!)
